Red Hammam is a typological study of the Turkish bath, combining elements of the Ottoman hammam and the Mediterranean palazzo. The complex is organized around the ritual of bathing and resting. Details such as arches with brass inlay, marble benches with brass edge profiles, wall sconces, brass-framed thresholds, come together to treat the hammam as a sequence of joints. Traditional elements such as the "çöpür taşı" in the courtyard and the "göbek taşı" in the bath are reinterpreted for contemporary use.
